"As if somehow, some issue is more important than love!" This morning as I drove home from running errands, I turned on Moody Bible Radio for my short ten minute drive. I only caught a few minutes, but sometimes it only takes a few minutes to have a huge impact! That's how it was today. I honestly didn't catch much of the context and sadly I cannot even tell you who was speaking. What I can tell you, is that one particular phrase was so impactful I found myself saying it out loud in the car. Speaking it as the statement that it is, but hearing it as a question in my own ears. "As if somehow, some issue is more important than love!" "As if SOMEHOW, some ISSUE is more important than love!" "As if SOMEHOW, some ISSUE is more important than love?!?!" . . . What could be more important than love?!? . . . What issue do I believe is more important than love?!? If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophesy and understand all mysteries and knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give away all my possessions, and if I give over my body to be burned but do not have love, I gain nothing. (1 Cor. 13:1-3 CSB) . . . But, what is love? What is this, that is more important than EVERY OTHER thing!? Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Cor. 13:4-7 CSB) As if somehow, some issue is more important than love! For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known. Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love - but the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor. 13:12-13 CSB) I have no profound commentary. God's Word is more than enough. Now I will pray, asking the Spirit to reveal to me where I am lacking in love...because surely I am lacking. . .
and surely there is no issue that is more important than love!

God is Unchanging!
He is still on the throne! (see Psalm 102) Lord, you are my portion and my cup of blessing; you hold my future. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I will bless the Lord who counsels me-- even at night when my thoughts trouble me. I always let the Lord guide me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:5-8) Reading...
